The physical and chemical properties of activated carbon were summaried in this paper. The research and application of activated carbon technology in advanced water treatment in recent years including activated carbon adsorption technology,biological activated carbon technology,supported activated carbon catalytic technology and the process of activated carbon assisted with some materials and some other water treatment processes were reviewed.
